James L. Elliott

Jim Elliott has served the legal community of Valdosta with distinction since 1995. As a member of Elliott, Blackburn & Gooding, he represents clients in a variety of state and federal court litigation. In addition to serving as a mediator, his legal expertise includes commercial, employment, local government, law enforcement and insurance law.

After receiving an undergraduate degree from Davidson College in 1982, Jim earned his J.D. at the University of Georgia in 1985. Prior to joining Elliott, Blackburn & Gooding, Jim served as partner in the Savannah law firm now known as Ellis, Painter, Ratterree & Adams.
Jim is a member of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association.  He is a past member of the Association’s Board of Directors and he has also served on the faculty and as Chairman of its Annual Trial Academy. Jim has also served on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America Alapaha Area Council and is a past member of the Valdosta North Rotary Club.

In addition to practicing law, Jim is also a priest in The Episcopal Church.  He was ordained to the priesthood in 2010 and presently is the Vicar of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Quitman, Georgia. He also serves as legal counsel for The Episcopal Church as Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia.  Jim, his wife Susan and their three children, Gus, Alex and Carter, reside in Valdosta.
